Biography
Thomas Parisch was born in 1981 and grew up in Nürtingen, a city close to Stuttgart, Germany. He started studying music at the local music school, first picking up the oboe when he was 12 years old and later the piano at age 16.
In the Fall of 2000 he enrolled at the University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart pursuing a double major in oboe (studying with Ingo Goritzki) and music theory (with Wolfgang Budday) allowing him to enlarge upon his keen interest in composition while remaining a performing musician.
Upon graduation a scholarship allowed him to complement his knowledge about classical music with studies in jazz and contemporary styles at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. Berklee was also the place where he first learned about the craft and potential of film music. In motion pictures Thomas had found the field in which his pluralistic notion of music was constantly asked for and applied creatively. To gain the necessary tools to become a successful film composer, he then enrolled in the prestigious one-year graduate program Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television at USC in Los Angeles, graduating in 2008 being awarded the BMI scholarship.
Out of school, Thomas immediately started working in the film music industry. As of today, his credits include compositions as well as orchestrations for many Hollywood movies and solo performances on film scores.
Already in the Fall of 2008, together with fellow composer and friend Laurent Ziliani, Thomas co-founded PearUp Media, a Los Angeles based music company for media of all sorts. Their most recent projects include music for the TF1 series "Doc Martin" as well as music for the feature film "Suing The Devil" directed by Tim Chey, starring Malcom McDowell.
